Keep utensils you use most often close at hand. Place utensils such as spatulas, large spoons, beaters and tongs in a large, open utensil jar; any large open-mouthed jar can work well for this purpose. Set the jar close at hand on the counter. This can open up extra space in the kitchen drawers.
Mount a spice rack to the wall. Place spices, salt shakers and seasonings in the rack. This allows for extra counter and drawer space.
Mount a paper towel roll hanger to the underside of a cabinet. Paper towels can be easily dispensed in this way without taking up any counter space.
Stack items in cabinets. Sort and stack plates, plastic containers and bowls to make maximum use of the cabinet space.
Place rarely used items, such as a fondue set, on the tops of the cabinets. This will allow more space on the counter for the items that you use on a daily basis.
Attach hooks to the inner side of the kitchen cabinets. This provides extra space for items such as coffee mugs. Hooks attached to cabinets under the sink provide storage for kitchen towels or cleaning utensils.
Place a lazy Susan inside a cabinet or on the counter and fill it with items such as honey, jams, condiments and sauces.
