Check the flight status before leaving your home to go to the airport. Navigate to an airline flight tracker website such as Flightstats.com or Yahoo.com. You can also visit your airline's website. Enter the airline name, flight number and departure date; or provide the airline, departure city and arrival city. If you visit the airline's website, check for a Travel Information or Flight Status option.
Call the airport at any time on the day of your trip to check on flight delays and get the status for your flight. Have your ticket and flight information available to speed up the process. Many airlines use an automated service to check flight status or inform you of delayed flights.
Sign up for flight notification service on your airline's website. If the flight gets delayed or cancelled, the airline usually sends you an email notification, text message or voice message indicating the flight's status.
Check the website you used to book your flight if you booked through Expedia.com or a similar travel booking site. Travel booking agencies generally send emails and can provide information on your flight if you call or log into your account.
Watch the flight arrival and departure monitors when waiting at the airport. Delayed, changed or cancelled flights display in a special section on the monitor or use a different color than other flights. Most often, changes in flights show up in red.
Download an app for your airline if you have a smartphone. Many airlines provide apps that alert you to changes in your flight status.
