How to Find an Address by Street

Finding out where something is located is not always an easy task, but if you are given a street name, most of the work has been done for you. Plenty of useful web applications can help you complete the task, and knowing how to use these applications effectively can mean the difference between a stress-free journey and disorientation. For best results, you should obtain a reasonably specific idea of where you are going before starting off.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your web browser and navigate to an online map application.

    • 2

Type the name of the street, followed by a comma, followed by the postal abbreviation of the city or state where that street is located.

    • 3

Select the location nearest to the one you are searching for from the options given on the left side of your browser window. A small marker will appear on the map over the location you selected.

    • 4

Hover your mouse over the small marker on the map and click "Street View." In the map area you will now see an interactive, panoramic photograph on the street you selected.

    • 5

Move your mouse over the panoramic photograph, and at the top of the photograph you should see a box with the approximate street address where the photo was taken.

    • 6

Click and drag the photo to look around. Navigate around the area by double-clicking a spot down the street from where you are, and the street view will "move" to the location where you double-clicked. Explore until you find the location you are searching for, then look at the box at the top of the photo to get the approximate address.
