Take your travel list and run it by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) prohibited items list. For passengers' safety, the TSA prohibits certain items in checked luggage as well as carry-ons. They include scissors, knives, tools, saws, aerosol - except in small quantities in toiletries - lighters with fuel, sports equipment, paint, chlorine, spillable batteries and liquid bleach. Sportsequipment include hockey sticks, baseball bats, golf clubs and ski poles. Spillable batteries are those that contain an opening on the top. A liquid chemical is poured into the battery in order for it to function. Other items include gel shoe inserts, snow globes and gel-type candles. If you're not sure on an item, contact the airport you'll be departing from. If you arrive at security with a prohibited item, you will be forced to throw it away in order to board.
