Hawaiian Airlines Luggage Rules

Hawaiian Airlines, much like its name suggests, flies passengers to and from Hawaiian to 20 cities around the United States and Pacific region. Hawaiian Airlines serves more than 6 million passengers per year with a staff of more than 3,400 employees. Like other airlines, Hawaiian Airlines luggage policies adhere to the regulations put in place by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Specific luggage requirements, such as size and quantity are individually set by Hawaiian Airlines.
  1. Carry-Ons

    • Ticketed passengers of Hawaiian Airlines are limited to one carry-on item and one personal item. Due to limited space in the overhead bins, carry-on items must not exceed 25 pounds or 45 linear inches. Personal items must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you and include purses, backpacks and laptop cases. Medical equipment does not count toward your carry-on or personal item allowance. Car seats and strollers are checked at the gate for passengers traveling with un-ticketed children.

    Checked Bags

    • Hawaiian Airlines checked baggage fees are based on the date your ticket was purchased; your destination and departure cities; and whether or not you pay for your checked items at the ticket counter or online prior to your flight (see Resources). Most flights allow passengers two checked bags at no cost; the cost of additional items varies based on your travel itinerary. Checked bags must not exceed 80 inches and 50 pounds. If your checked bag weighs between 51 and 70 pounds, you must pay an additional $50 to check you bag. Luggage larger than 80 inches or 70 pounds is not accepted aboard Hawaiian Airlines.

    Exception Items

    • Adults traveling with infants and/or children may check strollers and car seats at the gate of the plane free of charge, in addition to your carry-on and personal items. Diaper bags and children's formula and food may be brought on board your Hawaiian Airlines flights in addition to your carry-on and personal items as well. Hawaiian Airlines recommends packing enough food and drink for your infant for the duration of your flight as they do not provide formula or baby food for passengers.
