When did Brazil declare independence and how was it done?

Procedure:

- Prince Pedro, Regent of Brazil and heir to the Portuguese throne, received letters from his father King João VI, ordering him to return to Portugal.

- Pedro defied this order and declared Brazil's independence from Portugal on the banks of the Ipiranga River.

- The declaration marked the beginning of the Brazilian War of Independence, which officially ended in 1825.
