Can someone who came from Greece seek asylum in Norway?

Greece is part of the European Union and Norway is a part of the Schengen area. As such, Greek citizens can travel to Norway without a visa and can stay there for up to three months. If a Greek citizen wants to stay in Norway for longer than three months, they must apply for a residence permit. They can only seek asylum if they are able to prove that they have been persecuted in Greece on one or several of the following grounds:

* race

* religion

* nationality

* political belief

* membership of a particular social group

* gender

If a Greek citizen is granted asylum in Norway, they will be granted a residence permit and will have the same rights and obligations as other foreign nationals in Norway. They will be able to work, go to school, and receive health care. They will also be able to apply for Norwegian citizenship after a certain period of time.
