People who wish to temporarily immigrate to Spain must complete a visa application form if they are not a citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA). The visa application form can be downloaded from the Government of Spain, Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. The application can be downloaded as a PDF file.
A valid national passport is required in order to immigrate to Spain. There must be at least one blank page on the inside of it (so there is room for the appropriate visa stamps and stickers), and it must be valid for at least six months after the intended date of departure from Spain.
If you are applying for work visa or a student visa, you will have to show additional paperwork before the visa application can be processed. Student visas are going to require that you show proof of acceptance into a Spanish University. Work visas are going to require that you show proof of a work contract before you can leave the United States for Spain.
The application must be submitted to the embassy or a consulate of Spain before the application can be processed. You must submit all appropriate paperwork at this time along with the visa application fee. The visa application fee must be submitted at the time the visa is requested (no later), and the fee is nonrefundable if the visa is denied.
