How to Get a 90-Day L Visa in China

When you obtain a 90-day L visa for travel in China, you agree to enter the country 90 to 180 days from the date of issue. Failure to do so will result in the application being null and void. As a Single or Double Entrant, you are permitted to stay in China for a period of no more than six months. Learn how you can obtain a 90-day L visa.

      Go to the ChinaTravel.net or Danwei website and download the L Type Chinese Visa application. Complete the application in its entirety, providing your legal first and last names, country of origin, purpose for travel and contact information while in China.

      Submit the application in person to the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate. Consular jurisdiction varies by state. An appointment is not required, and all applicants are received on a rolling basis. Applications that are received by mail will be returned unopened. All applications must have a 2-by-2-inch photo stapled to the front of the application.

      Return to the Visa Office of the Embassy between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. to receive your visa. General processing time is four days.

      Extend your stay in China by requesting an extended 90-day L visa. Pay the fee and provide proof of financial ability and place of residency.

      Maintain a copies for your records. To avoid delays in travel, obtain a copy of all visa and passport documents in the event that one or all of these documents are lost.
