Tools Needed:
- Safety glasses
- Adjustable wrench
- Socket set
- Flat head screwdriver
Instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect Battery
- Ensure safety and disconnect the battery as a precaution to prevent accidental starting.
Step 2: Remove Right Rear Belt Guard
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the two plastic nuts that hold the right-hand belt guard in place.
- Lift the belt guard off and set it aside.
Step 3: Loosen Tensioner Bolt
- Locate the tensioner pulley near the bottom of the haybine.
- Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the tensioner bolt. This will release the tension on the drive belt.
Step 4: Remove Old Belt
- Grab the old belt and begin to pull it off the pulleys, starting with the tensioner pulley.
- Continue removing the belt until it's completely removed from the haybine.
Step 5: Position New Belt
- Take the new drive belt and place it on the pulleys in the same direction as the old belt.
- Start with the tensioner pulley and work your way around the pulleys.
Step 6: Tension Belt
- Once the new belt is in place, use an adjustable wrench to tension the tensioner bolt.
- Tighten the tensioner bolt until there's about a 1/2 inch of play in the belt.
Step 7: Check Alignment
- Double-check that the belt is properly aligned on all the pulleys.
- Make any necessary adjustments to ensure smooth operation.
Step 8: Reattach Belt Guard
- Reattach the right rear belt guard by securing it with the two plastic nuts removed earlier.
Step 9: Connect Battery
- Reconnect the battery.
Step 10: Test
- Start the haybine and engage the PTO.
- Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations.
- If everything seems to be operating smoothly, you've successfully replaced the drive belt.
