Turn the duffle bag inside out and look at the seams and stitching. Set the duffle bag onto the sewing machine to re-stitch any ripped, torn or frayed out areas of the stitching Try using a heavy canvas rated needle on the machine as the military bags canvas is sturdy and requires a heavy-duty needle to sew through the fabric.
Cut out a patch from the spare green canvas the size of any holes on the bag. Align the patch over the hole and use the sewing machine to stitch it into place on the bag.
Inspect all clips and attachments. Clip them together and undo them to check if they are sticky or have any grit in the mechanisms. Spray the dry lubricant on the metal attachments to free up stickiness.
Replace any old, worn out attachments or clips. Spare clips and attachments are found at Army Navy surplus stores.
