How to Tie the Military Waterproof Bag

The military waterproof bag is used by the U.S. Army and other special forces to keep kits dry, should service personnel need to cross water on an excursion. Comprising of green rubber on the inside and a nylon outer shell, the bag prevents any water coming through the seams. However, it is important to tie the top of the bag correctly to ensure there is no seepage.

     Pack the waterproof bag with your kit. Press down the bag's contents and grip the open end into a funnel-like shape.

     Fold the gripped end over on itself, so that the tip is pointing downwards.

     Wrap the string around the folded tip as tightly as it will go. Tie a knot to secure the end. Wrap any excess string around the tip and tie further knots to ensure there is no way for water to seep through.
