Each fall, football is celebrated in Las Vegas. Head to the casinos to place your bet on your favorite team, then settle in to watch the game. Two casinos host Monday night parties and give attendees a free hot dog and beer. Sam's Town and Suncoast are the two casinos to visit in 2009 for this special. Show up an hour before the Monday Night Football game starts, and bring your casino slot card to Sam's Town.
Of course, these aren't the only places where you can get a good view of the game. Check out Orleans, Gold Coast, Monte Carlo, Sahara or Green Valley Ranch for other spots to watch some football. Once football season ends, watch for basketball, baseball and a variety of other sports if you're in Vegas on a Monday night.
There are several activities for which Las Vegas is famous. The light and sound show at the fountains at the Bellagio hotel are a must-see. The show repeats every half hour.
One of the great things about Vegas is you can take several side trips without ever leaving the city. Visit the Eiffel Tower replica for a breathtaking view and grab dinner in the tower's restaurant. Or if you'd prefer a taste of Italy, take a gondola ride at the Venetian casino and get serenaded by your gondolier.
At the Mirage Hotel, watch the volcano eruption. The eruptions are scheduled every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Also, you might want to stroll over to the Treasure Island Battleship Show, which runs every 90 minutes at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. The show runs through 11:30 p.m.
Go to the Golden Nugget hotel 24 hours a day to see the world's largest golden nugget. Try the Liberace Museum and view everything that has to do with the famous entertainer.
Don't miss the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor. Admission is sold until 9 p.m. The exhibit showcases more than 300 artifacts such as gaming chips and passengers' papers. While viewing the exhibit, staffers relate tales of passengers. All visitors will get a boarding pass of a Titanic passenger with details about that passenger. Find out the passenger's fate at the end of the tour at the wall memorial. The show is ongoing.
The casinos in Las Vegas don't close and you can easily spend Monday night gambling at the variety of casinos and gaming tables. Most casinos also have lots more to see and do than gamble. Try one of the many restaurants inside New York New York or the MGM Grand. Caesar's Palace and others feature nightly shows and special concerts by singers of all genres and stand-up comedians. It's worth it to simply walk the Strip and see the sights.
