The numbers are used when booking flights and hotel accommodations, so the airlines and hotels can keep track of who to charge. The IATA number also enables the user to receive travel agency rates. The IATA number is issued along with a personal verification number on you IATA card. Once the flight or hotel room has been booked, you can use the IATA number to verify the reservation.

     Call your airline or hotel, or use their online services to check for your reservation.

     Quote your IATA number when you book flights and hotel rooms and you can use it to verify the reservations you have made. Simply type in the IATA number on the online reservation verification form or quote your number when checking via phone.

     Produce your IATA card when boarding your flight or checking in to your hotel room. You need to also know your personal verification number.
