How to Verify an Exit Visa

Visas are generally used only to enter a foreign country, but an exit visa is another type of document that is required to leave certain countries. This government-issued document is required in countries such as Russia, Cuba and Saudi Arabia. It is also required for visitors who are in a foreign country on business, do not leave the country as scheduled or if the original visa was lost, stolen or damaged.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the U.S. Department of State's website. Select the "International Travel" tab from the top of the homepage.

    • 2

Select the country that will be visited from the pull-down menu in the center of the page. Only certain countries require an exit visa. A majority of countries in Europe and North America do not have such requirements.

    • 3

Select the "Entry/Exit Requirements" option from the list provided. This will provide all information related to entry and exit visas for a particular country. In general, the same visa will be used to enter and exit the country.

    • 4

Research the requirements for obtaining an entry/exit visa. Every visitor must have a valid visa issued from the country being visited. Some countries, such as Russia, require an invitation to visit as well as a visa sponsor.
