Locate a car rental company near where you are traveling. Many major car companies, such as Avis, Budget and Rent-A-Wreck, have locations across the nation and overseas. Use Google maps to search for nearby car rental companies in the location you are traveling, or call the hotel you are staying in to ask which car rental companies are nearby.
Call the car rental company and ask for long-term discounts. Many car rental companies offer discounts for rentals that last for more than 30 days; and some offer additional discounts for rentals that exceed 60 days.
Ask for car rental insurance. Because you are going to rent a car for several months, the odds that your car will break down or you will get in a wreck may increase greatly. Ask the car rental company you choose about the rental insurance options they offer.
