DIA Parking Information

Denver International Airport, or DIA, offers on-site parking for travelers flying for leisure or business. As of May 2010, the airport was working to install QuickPark automated credit-card tracking machines that allow people to check in to the parking lot and exit the parking lot with a credit card, eliminating the need for paper parking tickets.
  1. DIA Terminal Parking Options

    • Terminal parking options at DIA include valet service, covered parking garages, short-term parking lots and outdoor economy lots. You can access covered valet-parking services on the west side of the parking garage on level four. DIA valet parking also offers mechanic services like oil changes and auto detailing while you are away. Covered garage parking has five parking levels, with the top level uncovered, and you can access this parking option on both the west and east sides of the airport terminal. DIA economy parking lots allow travelers to park close to the main airport terminal and either walk or use the shuttle service to access the terminal. DIA also offers short-term parking in both the east and west garages for people picking up or dropping off passengers.

    Additional DIA Parking Options

    • The Pikes Peak parking lot offers travelers the lowest-priced daily parking rate with the benefit of shuttle transportation to the airport terminal. DIA recommends that travelers parking in this lot allow 30 minutes to arrive at the terminal. DIA considers the Mt. Elbert parking area an overflow parking lot and only opens it when all other parking options reach maximum capacity.

    Cost

    • The cost for valet parking services is $27 per day or $11 for the first hour and an additional $2 for each additional hour, while the cost for garage parking is $18 per day or $2 per hour, as of May 2010. People parking in the DIA economy lots pay $10 per day or $1 per hour, and $3 per hour for short-term parking. Travelers parked in the Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert parking lots pay $6 per day or $1 per hour, as of May 2010.

    Benefits

    • DIA parking lots have 24-hour shuttles that pick you up and drop you off at the main airport terminal. These shuttles run every 10 minutes to and from the economy parking lots, Pikes Peak parking lot and Mt. Elbert parking lot. DIA parking also offers a free automotive assistance service that can help you if you lock your keys in your vehicle, need to jump start a dead battery or inflate tires. DIA parking provides 24-hour security patrols to discourage vehicle vandalism and theft.

    Considerations

    • You must contact DIA if you need to park your car during an extended travel period lasting longer than 30 days so the parking facility can make special accommodations for your vehicle. The DIA parking facility allows travelers to check the status of parking availability via phone (303-342-7275 and choose option 1) or online before leaving for the airport (see Resources for a link). Denver International Airport also offers a free 45-minute parking lot located 3 miles away from the airport terminal for people picking up passengers. Once a passenger has retrieved her luggage, the person providing her transportation may drive through the airport terminal access and pick her up outside.
