Cool Restaurants in Southwest Minneapolis

The area known as Uptown encompasses several neighborhoods in southwest Minneapolis. Uptown's proximity to Minneapolis' Chain-of-Lakes plants it firmly in an ideal location, which lures recreation seekers to its diverse entertainment, shopping and dining scene. There are plenty of cool restaurants for hipsters to congregate and grab a bite to eat, helping to make Uptown one of Minneapolis' most thriving areas.

  Chino Latino features a wildly diverse menu of items inspired from the streets of locations all around the equator. Culinary flavors from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Central America are fused together to provide plenty of spice to meals. Guests share the large portions that are intended to be served family-style. Diners can also sit at the sushi bar and watch the innovative chef's work. Chino Latino features a late-night happy hour and discounted appetizers for patrons looking to grab a snack after visiting one of the many theaters in the area. Nightcaps can be enjoyed in the subtle glow from the immense back-lit bat. Groups of 10 or more can order Fidel's Capitalist Pig Roast with a 72-hour advance notice. - Located near the Lagoon Theater, Bar Abilene employs a cowboy-fusion approach to the menu. Patrons can choose from an ever-changing menu of Southwest flavors and Mexican favorites. Bar Abilene even offers Minnesota walleye. Fresh guacamole made table-side from ripe avocados, tomatoes and roasted garlic is a visitor favorite. Over two-dozen specialty margaritas are offered from the bar. Guests choose from more than 100 different tequilas to make the perfect drink. Bar Abilene is open for dinner seven days a week.
