How to Stop Mail From USPS

Whatever the reason you will be away from your home, one detail to remember is to have the United States Postal Service stop delivery of your mail. Go to your local USPS office and complete a hold mail request form, or you can have your service stopped by following a few on-line steps.

      Enter https://holdmail.usps.com/duns/HoldMail.jsp into your web browser's address bar. Hit enter.

      Enter your zip code in the "Create a Request" menu located on the right side of the webpage. Then click "go."

      Enter your name, address and phone number in the appropriate fields on the information screen. Review the Privacy Act Statement at the bottom of the screen and press "continue."

      Check the information on the "verify information" screen. If the information is correct, hit "continue."

      Enter a date in the field labelled "start date." Enter a date in the "resume date" field. These will be the dates that you would like your mail service suspended. Choose between the options to have the USPS deliver the accumulated mail or allow you to pick it up at the office. Enter any additional information in the "additional info" field at the bottom of the screen. Click "continue."

      Verify that the information on the page is correct. Record the confirmation number provided at the top of the screen. You will need this number to make any changes to the request in the future.
