As of November 2009, no pets are permitted in the passenger cabins of Mexicana Airlines. Pets are permitted to fly in the cargo section of Mexicana airplanes except on MexicanaLink flights. No animals are permitted aboard MexicanaLink airplanes with the exception of service animals.
Service animals are permitted to fly on any Mexicana Airline flight. Service animals are not considered pets. They assist the disabled and are allowed in passenger cabins during Mexicana Flights. Service animals will not be put in the cargo compartment of any Mexicana flight as they must be with their owners at all times.
Pets are allowed to travel in the cargo compartment of Mexicana and MexicanaClick flights. Cats and dogs must meet the minimum age requirement of eight weeks old. Pets must be in kennels large enough that they can sit, stand and move comfortably around while in transit.
Animals must have written instructions attached to their kennels detailing feeding and watering for any flights longer than 24 hours. Animals needing medication must also have instructions for administering their medications attached to their kennels. These should detail how much and how often the pet requires its medication.
Airlines require health records for any animals traveling on-board. Animals must have been examined by a licensed veterinarian no more than 10 days prior to the flight and must have a valid health certificate. Animal owners must be traveling on the same flight as their pets. All animals except for cats must have a veterinary certificate proving they have been vaccinated against rabies no more than 30 days before the flight.
