The Nashville Zoo has a large collection of animals, and all the exhibits are designed to give visitors an intimate experience with nature. Kids will especially love watching the meerkats.
With its water slides, rental boats and jet skis, swimming beaches and play areas, Nashville Shores on J. Percy Priest Lake is a place the whole family can enjoy. The City of Nashville also has a water slide and wave pool park that is open during the summer season.
At the Adventure Science Center, children are invited to explore all kinds of hands-on science exhibits. The Military branch of the Tennessee State Museum houses lots of old guns and an exhibit chronicling the life of Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Alvin York.
There is almost always a sporting event happening in Nashville, especially football, ice hockey and baseball. See the Titans play at LP Stadium, the Predators take to the ice at the downtown Sommet Center, and the Nashville Sounds--the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers--play at Greer Stadium.
Nashville has several large parks where kids can stretch their legs. At the Edwin and Percy Warner Parks, two connected natural preserves, visit the Warner Parks Nature Center to take in wonderful exhibits, a wildflower garden and a pond with all kinds of animals.
For kids who need a good workout, Nashville has two full-sized ice rinks at the Centennial Park Sports Complex. The rinks are open all year and offer an extensive schedule for public skating.
