Who Are Maternal Grandparents?

Maternal grandparents are the parents of your mother. In other words:

• Maternal grandfather – Your mother’s father.
• Maternal grandmother – Your mother’s mother.

• Paternal grandparents – Parents of your father.

Genetic Note

You inherit mitochondrial DNA exclusively from your maternal grandmother (via your mother). Autosomal DNA is roughly 25% from each grandparent.
