Located in downtown Lafayette, The Original Don's Seafood & Steakhouse began in 1934 as a French-Acadian restaurant then known as Don's Beer Parlor. Today, the restaurant continues its tradition of serving Cajun-style fresh seafood and steaks to its Lafayette area patrons. Diners can begin by choosing among appetizers like shrimp remoulade, fried crab fingers or fried bite-size Atchafalaya catfish. Don's guests can also select from salads and a variety of gumbo selections as starters. Seafood entrees run the gamut from catfish and crawfish, to oysters, crabs and fish. Tilapia, crawfish etoufee and crabmeat au gratin are just a few of the seafood main dishes at Don's. The restaurant also serves steaks, chicken and quail plates as entrees, and features a lunch menu as well. For dessert, choose from homemade bread pudding and cheesecake varieties.
