How to Connect 2 Marine Batteries in a Series
You can use one of two methods for connecting batteries, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Connecting batteries in a series doubles the voltage while maintaining the same capacity. Connecting batteries in parallel doubles the capacity while maintaining the same voltage. When installing batteries in a marine craft such as a boat or jet ski, a series connection may be required, depending on the engine specifications.
