In Argentina's Crossing the Andes, riders spend eight nights riding over the Andes and camping at night. This ride is open to all ages and follows the pathway taken by San Martin in 1817 when he rode with his army to fight with the Chilean people for freedom from their European monarchs. It includes riding past the highest mountain in America, the Aconcagua at 20,900 feet high.
On France's Provence Perched Village Trail Ride, vacationers will enjoy five or six nights of cantering across the southeast corner of France. During the day, riders will get to explore the beautiful countryside, including the small villages that are built on jagged hilltops for safety, and the castles that they surround. At night, riders will stay in a mas, or a small stone farmhouse that is typical to the region. The trip includes homemade Provencal dinners each night served with French wine.
On Italy's Roman Countryside Ride, riders explore the Italian landscape that is about 30 minutes from Rome. Vacationers will be staying on estate if I Due Laghi and riding mostly Maremma horses, with the possibility of riding an Irish Sport Horse. This trip is six nights long and includes the chance to take lessons on the flat, jumping lessons, or cross country lessons at the first facility in Italy to be approved by the British Horse Society.
New Zealand's Beach Ride offers a six-night trip along the east coast of New Zealand. For many of the days, vacationers will ride along the beautiful beaches and meet local New Zealanders. Riders will also get to explore the hills and paths that are abundant in this area. This trip also features a visit to a modern sheep and cattle station, site seeing at some of the oldest settlements in the country, and a traditional Hangi dinner prepared in the Maori style.
California's Wine Country Trail Ride combines horses and wine for a three or six-night vacation. Vacationers will ride Tennessee Walking Horses, Missouri Foxtrotters, and Quarter Horses during the day through the countryside, visiting local wineries for tastings. At night, the trip includes accommodations at the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake. Dinners at local restaurants are included, but all alcoholic beverages cost extra.
Kenya's Masai Mara ride is one of the only cross-country riding vacations in central Africa. This eight-night trip strives to duplicate the way English hunting parties used to travel in the 1800s. Vacationers will stay in upscale tents that include beds, private showers, and wardrobes. During the day, riders will ride along the Serengeti, galloping with the wildebeasts, zebra, and giraffes while also seeing water buffalo, hyena, ostrich, and lions in their native habitat.
Tunisia's Sahara and Oasis Ride offers a unique way to explore northern Africa. It was named one of National Geographic's 2008 Tours of a Lifetime. This seven-night trip includes a tour across the desert and villages of Tunisia, including visits to the towns where parts of "Star Wars" and "The English Patient" were filmed. For most nights, vacationers stay in luxury hotels, but for two nights you will get to stay in a traditional Berber camp, eating around a bonfire. Throughout this trip vacationers will ride Arabian horses.
