How to Calculate Fedex International Shipping

It may be that you need to send documents or items to friends, family and customers overseas. Sometimes the most expensive part of your shipment can be its transportation. Shipping rates are contingent upon the destination, weight, packaging and service, making it difficult to guess on your own. If you choose to use FedEx for your international shipping needs, you can use their website to estimate your total costs in advance.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to www.fedex.com. Select "Ship" and click on "Get Rates and Transit Times."

    • 2

Fill out the From/To form. Input the country from which you are shipping, as well as the postal code and/or city. Do the same for the destination. Indicate the number of packages you are shipping, if they are similar, and their weight. Indicate if you are shipping to a residence and using a FedEx account number. Select whether you plan to drop off the package at a FedEx facility or have it picked up, and the date you plan to ship it. From here, press "Get quick quote" for a rough estimate. Otherwise, press "Get detailed quote" and continue to Step 3.

    • 3

Fill out the Package and Shipment Details form. Indicate whether the package contains a "letter" or "products or document." Estimate the customs value of your entire shipment. Input the weight, type, and value of each package.

    • 4

Select "Add special services" if you want the shipment to be held at a FedEx facility or if you require signature confirmation.

    • 5

Press "Continue." Your rates and service options will be displayed.
