Pack a picnic lunch. Prepare plenty of food so that you can spend a lot of time in the cool of the mountain.
Wear sunscreen. Even though the temperature is significantly cooler, the sun is even more potent.
Drive to Mount Charleston. Turn off the main road at the first right turn you come to. Drive until you find a grassy field to picnic at.
Drive to the day use area if you prefer to sit at a picnic table. The day use area will be more crowded than the fields. Call (800)-280-2267 for information on day use fees.
Spray yourself down with a mild bug spray. The bugs are not horrible but definitely have a presence in the summer.
Lay out a picnic blanket under the shade of a tree. Eat your lunch and relax.
Pack out everything you pack in. Dispose of any trash at the day use areas.
