Jeep Trails Near Pinetop, Arizona

Pinetop is a city in Arizona located near the White Mountain range east of Phoenix and near the New Mexico border. The White Mountains are a popular location for hiking, fishing and motorized trail riding on vehicles such as Jeeps or ATVs. The White Mountain Open Trails Association has catalogued numerous trails in the White Mountain area near Pinetop and provides information to members as well as those interested in enjoying this area by Jeep, ATV or UTV. While the White Mountains are closed to ATV and off-roading vehicles, there are multiple jeep trails available within a few hours of Pinetop, including just outside of Phoenix.
  1. Saffel Canyon OHV Trail

    • Located in Eagar, Arizona, the Saffel Canyon OHV Trail is situated in a National Forest about two hours from Pinetop. The drivable trails contain a 21-mile loop and a four-mile loop that wind through the rustic forest scenery. Ponderosa, conifer and pinion-juniper trees are visible along the trail. The trail system is marked well and is rated at an easy to medium difficulty level with a few tight sections. This trail goes by alternate names of Mulligan Knoll, Saffell Spring, Milligan Valley, Flat Top and Pat Knoll. Its elevation is 7,500 feet and there are few hazards along the trail. The trail can be accessed by SR-260 or interstate 180, just outside of Eagar, Arizona.

    ET Motopark

    • Located outside of Phoenix, Arizona or about four hours west of Pinetop, the ET Motopark has three tracks that include a main track which is 1.5 miles in length. This private track is a smooth, well-lit off-roading area complete with starting gates and a track reserved for motocross instruction. With a pee-wee track, intermediate and advanced trail, there's an option for every skill level. It's also a good option for those just beginning with off-roading who want to gain experience before heading off to a remote location with their vehicle. There is no fee to park or enter the Motopark but there is a $25 per vehicle riding fee.

    Agua Caliente Scenic Drive

    • Located outside of Phoenix and about four hours west of Pinetop, Agua Caliente is home to hot springs, hiking trails, rock climbing and off roading. It contains an extensive network of sand washes and 4x4 roads in a remote setting. There are no services or drinking water in Agua Caliente so bring plenty of food and water with you as well as extra gas. The park varies in elevation from 800 to 1,700 feet and is mostly hard packed sand with a little bit of loose dirt in areas. There are few steep hills, water crossings and jumps. There are no hazards, and while there is very little in terms of advanced trails, there are plenty of novice trails which are perfect for off-roaders who are still logging experience with the sport.
