Converting 1997 Lincoln Continental Air Suspension to Coil Springs

Tools Needed

• Socket wrench set
• Screwdriver & pry bar
• Jack & jack stands
• Spring compressor
• New coil springs & shocks/struts

Step-by-Step

1. Prepare: Level ground, parking brake, engine off/cool. Raise & secure on jack stands.
2. Disconnect Air Lines: Locate and detach lines from compressor to struts.
3. Remove Air Struts: Unbolt and carefully take out air suspension units.
4. Install Springs & Shocks: Place new coils, compress with tool, mount new shocks/struts securely.
5. Reconnect Lines: Reattach air supply lines (if retaining compressor for other functions) or cap/plug.
6. Lower Vehicle: Remove stands, lower jack.
7. Test: Bounce each corner; verify no leaks, noises, or handling issues.

Consider a conversion kit for compatibility. Professional alignment recommended afterward. Disable air-suspension warning lights via dealer scan tool or resistor module.
