Plan ahead. It's not wise to wait until the week you leave for Spring Break to worry about getting a tan.
Go to a tanning salon. There are two options--tanning booths or beds. They both are designed for an all-over tan. It's up to you whether you prefer standing or lying down.
Talk to the tanning consultant about your skin type. Many salons require you to fill out a form. Be honest about how easily you burn, your hair and eye color and your expectations.
Tan for the amount of time the tanning consultant recommends. You'll start off with a few minutes to avoid burning, then add minutes with each session.
Buy a fake tanning solution. Go for a medium shade for the most natural look. There are lotions, sprays and wipes on the market.
Exfoliate your skin in the shower. Once you're dry, apply the tanning solution evenly. Make sure to follow the instructions on the label and don't miss a spot. Wait the recommended amount if time before re-dressing.
