Spring Break Events in Miami

Miami, Florida, is a hot spot for spring break every year. Thousands of people flock to the sunny seaside city looking for their first taste of summer a few months early, combined with lively music, an upscale nightlife scene and a non-stop party atmosphere that can compete with any other popular vacation spot on the map. During spring break there are a few events that draw large crowds of revelers looking to cut loose and enjoy some time away from their college obligations or simply a vacation from the norm.
  1. Winter Music Conference

    • The Winter Music Conference is an annual event that has been drawing music fans, industry professionals, artists and DJs since 1985. Despite its title, the conference happens each year during spring break in Miami. In 2010, the Winter Music Conference drew more than 100,000 people from 70 countries and included more than 1,900 artists and DJs in a series of 414 separate events. These events take place around the clock and all around the city for five straight days, according to the WMC website.

    Ultra Music Festival

    • The Ultra Music Festival is a spring-break event in Miami that calls itself the world's most famous outdoor electronic music event. No one is likely to contradict this opinion as the festival draws spring-break partiers and electronic dance music fans from all 50 states and 56 different countries and territories. The festival continues to grow each year, attracting more than 85,000 fans in recent years. The event lasts for two days and takes place on 16 stages located at Bicentennial Park between Biscayne Bay and Downtown Miami. The festival has featured world famous headliners in the electronic music genre, including The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, MOBY, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method and Tiesto. In recent years the lineup has expanded to include crossover acts such as The Black Eyed Peas and The Killers. For those looking for a spring break with the most technologically advanced stage show around, the Ultra Music Festival is a good choice for entertainment during spring break.

    The Party That Never Stops

    • There is one place in Miami that does not need to announce an event to draw spring-break party people by the thousands. South Beach is the spring-break capital of South Florida, where the party never stops and there is plenty to occupy your time all hours of the day or night. The beach itself is a long stretch of white sand packed by day with hard-bodied men and women looking to relax and have a good time or perhaps recover from the previous night. With another night approaching, this is the staging ground for the party ahead. The Art Deco historic district along South Beach is home to many fine restaurants and pricey boutiques where spring-break visitors shop and eat in anticipation of the one-of-a-kind nightlife. When the sun goes down, South Beach comes alive every night of the week with dance clubs that people often wait for hours in line just to see. The party rages on throughout the night until dawn the next morning as the sleepy return to their hotel rooms briefly before making their way back out into the sun for more fun.
