When did dutch settlers arrive in cape town south affrica?
The first permanent European settlement in South Africa was established by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in 1652 at the Cape of Good Hope. Jan van Riebeeck, a Dutch explorer and colonial administrator, led a group of settlers to the Cape and founded the settlement of Cape Town. The VOC used Cape Town as a refreshment station for ships traveling between Europe and Asia and eventually developed it into a colony.
