Check the business website first to see if you need to find the telephone number for a company. Most companies list their contact information, including the main telephone number, on their website. You can also begin here if you need to find an individual and you know where the person works.
Use the Australian White Pages to look up an individual, business or a government entity (see Resources.) To begin looking up a phone number in the Australian White Pages, click the appropriate tab, "Business," "Government" or "Residential" at the top of the page and type the business's or individual's name into the search box. If you know the general location, such as the city or territory, type it into the "Location" box to narrow your search before clicking the "Find" button.
Look up an individual, a university, a professional service number and other organization phone numbers on the Australian PeopleSearch page (see Resources). Begin by clicking on the category of the telephone number you need to find, such as "School and University." Then, click on any link that appears in the category to browse the listed organizations and telephone numbers.
Check the local directory for the specific Australian territory if you know the general location of the individual or business. Local directories for Australian territories and some cities can be found at the LocalDirectories website (see Resources.) Pull down the box that says "Select a Location" to choose the territory you want to search, type the name of the individual or business you are looking for into the "Search" box and click "Go" to see the results.
