Okay, you blew it. Everyone forgets that you can burn on a cloudy day. Or that the sun is hottest between 10 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Let's worry about stopping the sunburn pain.
Apply cool, wet cloths with pure water. This is the fastest way to make the sunburn manageable and help you rest.
Take some aspirin for the headache. This should help relieve some of the deeper ache, sore throat, and general "I got hit by a truck" feeling.
Apply Solarcaine or another similar product. This helps to dull the tingling, itching, and pain. In a pinch, you can even use one of the condom lubricants that have lidocaine in them (to slow ejaculation). It might be slightly embarrassing, but it works for sunburn.
Get plenty of rest in a darkened room. Drink herbal teas and take a sleep aid. When you wake up, the main fever and roaring headache will be gone.
Use skin cream for the inevitable itching. As you heal, it will start itching all over. More Solarcaine and sunburn itch creams are about all you can do for that! Use skin cream with at least an SPF 15.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation and stay out of the sun!
