The Concertgebouw, or "concert building" in Dutch, dates back to 1888. If you are in the mood for a cultural experience, this is worth the trip, as it houses the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. You can count on performances daily, and if you're in luck, you may visit during the annual Holland Festival in June, where musicians from all over the world visit and perform. Stop in around lunch between October and June, and you'll likely enjoy a free rehearsal.

The Melkweg is a good mix for those wanting a musical experience with a club atmosphere. It's mainly known for hosting live musical acts during the week, though on the weekends you can often find the club hosting dance events. If you're interested in global music, this club may be a place to visit as it has a reputation for having its pulse on new and varied music. The venue gets is name, "Milky Way" in English, from its original purpose, which was a dairy factory. If you're hungry, you're in luck: Melkweg also has an in-house restaurant.

The Power Zone is true to its name and is known as mega-club. This club can pack in more than 5,000 patrons at a time. If you want to visit, you'll have to venture outside the city center. However, you'll get a taste of a different area since it's located in an industrial region and it is accessible by subway. The two-story club has several dance areas but also hosts a few lounge areas with sofas when you're tired out from dancing.
