What did Greece depend on?
The Ancient Greek economy had a very strong agricultural sector, with around 80% of the population relying on it. The Greeks grew wheat and barley domestically and imported extra supplies of grain from Sicily, Egypt and North Africa. Olives and grapes were grown for producing olive oil and wine, and other crops also included legumes, figs, vegetables, nuts, and fruits such as apples, pears and pomegranates.
