How to Make an International Call to Monaco

Monaco is a small principality surrounded on three sides by France. It has a population of nearly 33,000 (according to the 2009 census) and an area of about 0.8 square miles. Although Monaco shares many things with France, including language, customs union and certain laws, it has separate dialing codes to its neighbor.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what time it is in Monaco before calling. Monaco is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, therefore calculate the time depending on where you are in the United States. If you are calling a business, bear in mind that office hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m to 5 p.m.

    • 2

Dial 011, which is the international code. This number needs to be dialed before calling most countries outside of the United States.

    • 3

Dial 377, Monaco's country code. Monaco formerly shared the French country code, however that is no longer the case.

    • 4

Dial the rest of the number, which should be eight digits long and will begin with 9. If you are calling a cell phone, the number should begin with a 4 or a 6.
