Making an international call to Japan can be a daunting process if the caller does not know what proper steps to take. But once you learn the general steps and understand access codes and country codes, you'll be connected to your party in Japan in no time.
Gather the information you need to make the call. This includes the phone number you are calling in Japan (including the area code) and the international dialing access code of the country you are calling from.
On your phone, dial the international access code. In the United States, the access code is 011.
Next, dial Japan's country prefix, which is 81.
Finally, dial the area code and the phone number you are calling.
If there is a 0 at the beginning of the number, omit the 0 and dial the rest of the number as usual.
For example, the phone number (070)-245-1234 would be dialed as 70-245-1234.
Once you have finished dialing, the call will be connected to the party in Japan.
