San Jose is roughly one hour east of the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and around two and a half hours from Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste.

San Jose sits at an elevation of around 1,150 meters (3,775 feet) and is considered one of the cleanest and safest capitals in all of Latin America.

San Jose is home to approximately 345,000 people and is the political, cultural, and economic hub of the country.
