Outdoor Water Parks in Minnesota

Minnesota has a cold north Midwest climate, but visitors will find several outdoor water parks that are open seasonally during the summer season. Most are found within a 30-mile drive from metropolitan Minneapolis, which offers visitors many lodging options as well as the Mall of America which is the largest shopping mall in America.

  1. Cascade Bay Waterpark

    • Cascade Bay Waterpark is a city owned outdoor water park in Eagan, Minnesota which is located ten miles south of Minneapolis. It is open daily from early June until the end of August with special times for private rentals where the park closes early. The park includes a zero-entry activity pool, lazy river and water slides which include tube and open slides. Other amenities include changing areas with private lockers, concession stands and mini-golf as well as shaded lounge chairs where parents can watch their children.

    Bunker Beach

    • Bunker Beach is a large outdoor water park located in central Coon Rapids which is a suburb ten miles north of Minneapolis. It features six water slides that include tube and body slides, a zero entry activity pool and wave pool as well as a 900 foot lazy river and sand play area. The facility includes restrooms with changing rooms and private lockers, a picnic area and concession stands. There is also a large beach area for guests to lounge in the sun on complimentary sun loungers as well two sand volleyball courts.

    Valleyfair Soak City

    • Valleyfair is an amusement park that includes roller coaster, midway attractions and Soak City Water Park. Water attractions include Thunder Canyon which is a group whitewater rafting ride, Hurricane Falls a four person aqua blast ride and several slides that include body and tube slides. The park also has The Wave which is a twenty passenger boat that slides down a sleep embankment into a pool creating a large splash soaking its occupants. A 1,200-foot slow-moving river runs throughout the park giving its passengers a glimpse of all the other rides. There are large restroom changing areas fro guest that include private lockers as well as several concession stands in the water park and the amusement park.
