Minnesota, known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," is a popular destination for its outdoor recreational areas, but it also has many indoor parks. Many of the water parks in Minnesota are indoor, due to the state's frigid temperatures during the winter. These water parks feature slides and swimming pools, and they stay open year-round. Most of Minnesota's indoor parks are in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, but other cities, including Duluth, have them as well.
The Water Park of America in Minneapolis is part of the Radisson Hotel Bloomington, and it is within walking distance of the Mall of America shopping center. The indoor water park features rides such as the Lake Superior wave pool, the Flow Rider Surfer Simulator and a mile-long raft ride.
