Night Clubs in Portland, Oregon

Portland in Oregon may not be a very large city, but it's getting more and more known for its music scene and vibrant nightlife. One of its most famous residents, the Gossip's Beth Ditto, describes the city as "big enough to be interesting, little enough to be friendly" and the nightclubs there reflect this. There are several clubs to cater to everyone's musical taste and most of them are wallet-friendly.
  1. Barracuda

    • Barracuda has one of the largest dance floors in the Northwest, as well as having two floors and four bars. It regularly hosts star DJs and celebrity guests, and has a state-of-the-art light and sound system.

    The Escape

    • This nightclub is for gay, lesbian and bisexual clubbers, although straight people are still welcome. The music is largely techno with a bit of hip-hop as well. As of September 2010, typical cover charge is $7 on Friday nights, and $10 on Saturdays.

    Someday Lounge

    • Fans of live music acts will enjoy the Someday Lounge. There is always a wide variety of music acts playing which you can enjoy with your drink. There is also a restaurant on-site as well. Most of the shows are free, and those that aren't are still affordable.

    Wonder Ballroom

    • The Wonder Ballroom is Beth Ditto's favorite place to play gigs in the city. The historic building was renovated to turn it into a music venue so it's beautiful inside with a large balcony and can fit in 700 people. Parking is free.

    Candlelight Room

    • This club boasts having live music seven days a week, and no cover charge. It mainly hosts alternative and jazz musicians, but is known for booking a wide variety of music acts. It has a small dance floor and food is served until the music stops playing.
