The Maid of the Mist takes adventurers on a ride to the brink of the falls. Travelers can board the historic ferry and take a one-hour trip that brings them next to both the American and the Canadian sides of the falls. Those who participate in the trip must wear a plastic raincoat provided by the steamship crew. This is because the boat gets so close to the rushing torrents of water that the resulting spray leaves everyone drenched. The ride costs $15 for adults, $10 for children aged 6-12 and free for anyone five and under. Discounts are available for those who purchase the Adventure Pass, which offers access to the Maid of the Mist and several other popular attractions at more than 30 percent off the ticket price. These passes can be purchased at the Niagara Falls Information Centre, located at the base of Clifton Hill.
