Niagara Falls Attractions in the Winter

Niagara Falls is perhaps best known for its magnificent waterfalls, but visiting the falls in the cold winter months isn't always feasible. However, the Niagara Falls area is home to a number of inside and cold weather-appropriate attractions and activities that visitors can also enjoy.

  1. Niagara Science Museum

    • Opened in the spring of 2009, the Niagara Science Museum was founded by Nick Dalacu, a physicist with a deep fascination for antique scientific instruments. The museum provides a home for a number of such instruments, many of which were the first made for their specific purposes. Certain instruments (those which are easily duplicated) are available for sale in the museum store. As of 2010, admission to the Niagara Science Museum is $7 for adults and $3 for children.

    Snow Park Niagara Falls

    • The perfect spot for winter activity, Snow Park Niagara Falls is a full snow park. The park's facilities include skiing and snowboarding trails, an ice skating rink, a tubing terrain and an open area for all types of snow play. Since Snow Park Niagara Falls has full snow-making machinery, the park is open year-round. Tickets are required for admission to the park. Various ticket levels are available, with the higher ticket levels granting entry to several different park areas. For guests ages five and up who do not intend to partake in any snow activities, a Spectator Ticket is available. Ticket prices do not include equipment rentals.

    • Open 365 days a year, Bird Kingdom features more than 400 exotic birds, all of which fly free in an indoor aviary. Each of the nine special areas are available for guests to enjoy, including the Small Bird Aviary, the Nocturnal Jungle and the Kids Archaeology Dig. The Bird Kingdom is also home to several reptiles, such as python snakes, which visitors can interact with. The Main Aviary is a 45,000 square foot indoor Tropical Rainforest with a 40 foot waterfall and hundreds of birds. Hours of operation vary by season, but the Bird Kingdom is open every day of the year.
