Take I-295 North from Boston to exit 28 (US Route 1) to the town of Rockland.
Skip driving and take the newly restored Maine Eastern Railroad to Rockland. There are stations in Brunswick, Bath and Wisscasset.
Go to the festival site, Rockland's Harbor Park, in the heart of the downtown, overlooking the bay.
Watch the lobster crate race. Fifty partially submerged lobster crates are strung across Penobscot Harbor and participants "run" across the crates, trying not to fall in the chilly Atlantic Ocean.
Enjoy the "Big Parade," which is held at 10 a.m. on the Saturday of the festival. Visitors can watch the newly crowned Sea Goddess and her court float by along with King Neptune and his court.
Run a road race. Visitors can sign up for a challenging 10K road race that winds through the town of Rockland. There is also a kids' road race.
Listen to live music, including jazz, oldies, Celtic and reggae bands all performing throughout the festival.
Dine on fresh Maine lobster under the Maine Eating Tent while enjoying beautiful views of Penobscot Bay.
Try other local seafood delicacies such as fried Maine shrimp, steamed mussels and homemade clam chowder (referred to as "chowda" by the locals).
Show off your cooking skills by entering the Maine Lobster Festival Seafood Cooking Contest. All recipes entered into the contest must contain Maine seafood--fresh, frozen or canned.
Check out the "World's Greatest Lobster Cooker" designed to resemble the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, on display at Buoy Park. It can cook up to 150 pounds of lobster in less than 20 minutes! That's a lot of lobstah!
Pick up some more Maine treats such as homemade fudge, preserves and maple syrup at one of the many local vendors set up throughout the festival.
