Tropical Places to Vacation

Throughout the world there are many destinations that are considered tropical, due to the area's humid temperatures and verdant plant-life. Tropical locations attract tourists from more frigid parts of the world because of these attributes. Some of the activities that tourists can undertake at tropical locations include swimming, fishing, as well as hiking and mountain climbing. Most destinations in the tropics have resorts that can accommodate you during your trip.
  1. Costa Rica

    • Costa Rica, situated in Central America, translates to "Rich Coast" in Spanish. Costa Rica offers tourists access to beaches on the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. Coastal cities on that offer beach resorts include Limon on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, as well as Puntarenas and Guanacaste on the Pacific.     The Bahamas

    • Located in the Caribbean Sea, The Bahamas consist of 29 islands that are approximately 100 miles east of Florida. This destination offers tourists with opportunities for access to beach activities and gaming opportunities in the capital city of Nassau. The Bahamas also offer opportunities for deep-sea fishing expeditions in the Caribbean, as well as freshwater fishing in places such as Lake Forsyth and Twin Lakes on the large island of Andros. The Abacos Islands feature Abaco National Park, a 20,500-acre recreational area that provides hiking trails, as well as opportunities for bird watching. The best way for visitors to move around the islands is to take an international flight into Nassau and then charter a boat or plane to The Bahamian "Out Islands".

    The Fiji Islands

    • The Republic of the Fiji Islands is a nation in the southwest Pacific Ocean that is approximately 1,200 miles north of New Zealand. With over 333 islands, Fiji offers tourists with access to beach activities, as well as snorkeling and scuba diving excursions in the country's coral reefs, such as the ones near Matangi Island. Places in Fiji that have resorts include Sonaisali Island and the cities of Nadi and Suva. This destination also has recreational areas such as Koroyanitu National Heritage Park and Colo-l-Suva Forest Park. These sites offer trails for nature walks, as well as facilities for camping. Fiji also hosts annual cultural events such as Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day and Diwali. These events are open to the public and feature indigenous music, dancing and food.
