Why is Florida not considered the tornado capital?

While Florida does experience tornadoes, it is not considered the tornado capital of the United States. The state ranked 17th in the country according to tornado frequency between 1950 and 2013. States like Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Alabama have historically recorded a higher incidence and intensity of tornadoes compared to Florida. Factors such as geographic location, prevailing weather patterns, and specific atmospheric conditions contribute to different regions being more prone to tornadic activity.
