Campgrounds Near Rodman Reservoir in Florida

Rodman Reservoir, also known as Lake Ocklawaha or Lake Oklawaha, is 110 miles northwest of Orlando in Marion County, Florida. The reservoir offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, canoeing, bird-watching, hiking and camping. Area campgrounds provide good bases for exploring the area.
  1. Rodman Reservoir

    • Rodman Campground, on the east end of Rodman Reservoir, offers RV and trailer sites with water and electrical hookups, as well as primitive tent sites in a rustic setting. Bathrooms, showers, picnic shelters and a sewage dump station are centrally located. Lake Oklawaha RV Park sits on a bluff overlooking Rodman Reservoir. The park has RV sites with full hookups, but no tent sites. Amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a library. Ocala National Forest, adjacent to Rodman Reservoir, allows tent camping in five primitive campgrounds as well as throughout the forest.

    State Parks

    • Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, 32 miles north of Rodman Reservoir, has campsites with water and electricity for tents, trailers and RVs. The park also has two primitive camping areas with picnic tables and fire rings, but no water or electricity. Primitive sites are reached by a 3/4-mile trail. Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, 36 miles west of Rodman Reservoir, has sites for tents, trailers and RVs with water and electricity. Restrooms, showers and dump stations are centrally located. The park also has a primitive camping area accessible by a 1.8-mile trail.

    North of Rodman Reservoir

    • Cooper Lake RV & Mobile Home Park, 13 miles north of Rodman Reservoir, is minutes away from downtown Interlachen. The family-friendly park has pull-through RV sites with full hookups, cable TV and wireless Internet. Amenities include laundry facilities, picnic areas and a recreation area. Leashed pets are welcome. In addition to camp sites at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park and Carl Duval Moore State Forest, Etoniah Creek State Forest, 27 miles north of Rodman Reservoir, has primitive sites for tent campers with no amenities.

    South of Rodman Reservoir

    • Ocklawaha Canoe Outpost & Resort, 16 miles south of Rodman Reservoir near Fort McCoy, has tent and RV sites with full hookups. Amenities include a fish pond, horseshoe pits, recreation room with board games, playground and camp store. For recreation, campers can choose from canoeing, kayaking, hiking, volleyball, ping pong, horseshoes, biking and fishing. Horseback riding, golf and tennis are available nearby. Seven of Florida's natural springs are withing easy driving distance of the resort.
