Cannery Landing RV Campground, 5 miles southwest of Walnut Grove, is on Grand Island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The small park, set in a rural area surrounded by vineyards and farmland, has 39 RV sites with full hookups. Leashed dogs are welcome. Grand Island is home to mature trees, including giant cedar, sycamore, eucalyptus, walnut, poplar and birch. Fox, quail, possum and rabbit inhabit the area. Sacramento River/Delta KOA, 15 miles southwest of Walnut Grove, lies on the Sacramento Delta, an inland waterway that runs from Sacramento to San Francisco. The river provides opportunities for boating, fishing and water skiing. The park has more than 120 shaded RV sites with full hookups and Internet access. Pull-through and back-in sites are available. Amenities include a clubhouse with large-screen TV, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a basketball court, a picnic pavilion and a snack bar. The park also features a full marina with 120 slips. River's Edge Marina & Resort, 15 miles southwest of Walnut Grove, is on Seven Mile Slough, a short distance through calm waters to the San Joaquin River. The resort's RV park has 48 RV sites with full hookups and access to restrooms, hot showers and laundry facilities. Tent sites are also available. The park also has four acres of grounds with areas for walking and relaxing. Amenities include a security gate with individual codes, and boat and RV storage. Duck Island RV Park is an adults-only campground 15 miles southwest of Walnut Grove. The park, which sits directly on the Sacramento River, has 51 RV sites with full hookups and wireless Internet. Amenities include shade trees, picnic areas and a clubhouse with a kitchen and meeting room. Six lighted fishing docks allow campers to fish day or night. Leashed pets are welcome. Brannan Island State Recreation Area, 18 miles southwest of Walnut Grove on the Sacramento River, is made up of islands and marshes that host a variety of wildlife. The recreation area offers opportunities for boating, windsurfing and fishing. The campground has 91 all-purpose sites with full hookups and 11 sites exclusively for trailers and RVs with full hookups. Thirteen tent-only sites are also available. Restrooms, showers and dump stations are centrally located. Reservations may be made online through Reserve America.
