Florida does not only rate as the second hottest state during the winter, it also boasts the highest temperatures on average of all the states. Average temperature in the winter is 59.4 degrees, compared to 70.7 degrees for the year as a whole. Southern Florida is home to the warmest cities of the state, including Miami, which sees the hottest temperatures in the winter of all the country, with an average of 69 degrees.
Louisiana has an average winter temperature is 50.9 degrees. It rates third for highest temperatures both in the winter period and for the entire year. However, in the summer Louisiana is the hottest state, with an increase to 81.1 degrees on average. Temperatures are similar throughout all regions of the state.
Texas rates fourth for the highest temperature in the winter, with an average of 47.9 degrees. Its warmest cities are Houston, San Antonio and Austin, all with mean temperature of 52 degrees in the winter. Texas also is the fourth hottest state during the entire year, and ties with Louisiana for first place for the highest temperatures during the summer months, with an average of 81.1 degrees.
